Competitive Player Ranking & Skill Visualization Platform

Situation

Competitive gaming rankings typically focus on overall score, offering limited insight into a player’s underlying strengths and weaknesses. There was no clear, interactive way to compare players across multiple skill dimensions or to analyze how competitive results affected rankings over time.

Task

My responsibility was to help design and build an interactive ranking and visualization system that represented competitive players’ skillsets across multiple subskills, supported dynamic filtering, and was updated as new competitive results were released.

Action

• Helped design a graphical ranking system using ReactJS that represented players’ overall rank and subskill performance using structured, comparable metrics
• Helped implement hexagonal radar style charts to visually compare individual players’ skill distributions and highlight strengths and weaknesses
• Helped design interactive filters to segment players by represented nation, rank group, and overall skill level
• Developed a weekly update pipeline to refresh rankings and visualizations as new competitive results became available
• Focused on usability and visual clarity to support quick comparison between players and meaningful competitive analysis

Result

• Enabled intuitive, visual comparison of player skillsets beyond a single aggregate ranking
• Improved understanding of competitive performance by exposing strengths, weaknesses, and specialization patterns
